About Us

Many residents come to Four Winds West after leaving a hospital or other acute facility.  Others are referred by educational consultants, psychological professionals, parents, and friends.  Our 12-24 month residential program is designed to help young adults understand the reasons for their difficulties so they may learn healthy ways to cope with every day living.  Four Winds West works best with motivated young adults who want to make positive changes in their lives.  Our small size allows our residents to build networks of supportive relationships with peers, positive adult role models, and relevent community resources   We work with each resident to develop an individual plan for achieving independence with a focus on education, symptom management, relapse prevention, supported employment, and social skills training.

Our monthly fee of $3700 includes room and board, case management, weekly individual psychotherapy, 4 group therapies per week, relapse prevention, medication support and supervision, independent living skills counseling, vocational counseling and support, transition and discharge planning, staff on site each week day and overnight staffing seven nights per week. Four Winds West makes available unlimited support to all program graduates.

A sliding scale is in place for approriate individuals who meet the financial requirements.

Four Winds West is a private non-profit organization located in Fairfax, California, Marin County.

While working as a counselor at an adolescent treatment program Toni Brumbaugh, our Chairman of the Board, became aware of the lack of services available to young adults 18-28 who were struggling with a variety of social, emotional, and psychological problems.  Based in the quiet community of Fairfax, California since 1990, Four Winds West has maintained the small, home-like feel that is at the heart of our treatment philosophy. Four Winds West provides a safe and supportive environment where our residents can learn the skills necesssary to transition to a productive, stable, and rewarding life.
